In November 2006, the Danish banking group Danske Bank signed an agreement with Finnish Financial Services Group Sampo Plc on the acquisition of the Sampo Bank group. The transaction was completed on 1 February 2007 and July 2007 Danske Bank has already had direct control over the Bank. Since June 2008, Sampo Bank has launched a new phase and become Danske Bank. Danske Bank is currently the largest financial services group in Northern Europe and the Baltic States.
