Bank of Valletta
Bank of Valletta was founded in 1974 in accordance with the agreement between the government of Malta and the Malta development Corporation. In 1992 51.2% of the Bank's shares were owned by the government of Malta, 14,56% - Banco Di Sicilia and the rest 34,23% were in the hands of the General public. In 1995, the government offered 12 million shares to the public, thereby reducing its stake in BOV Yes 25.23%. In June 2006 Capitalia SpA bought 14.56% of the stock BOV from Banco Di Sicilia. In 2007 Capitalia SpA was merged with UniCredito Italiano SpA by incorporation. Currently UniCredit is one of the main shareholders of the Bank with 14.45% of the shares.
