Abanka was established in 1955 as a branch of the Yugoslav Bank for Foreign Trade, and later Jugobanka. The Jugobanka Ljubljana branch was the first bank in Slovenia for international relations. In December 1989, it has been transformed into Abanko, and in December 2002 it was mergered with Banko Vipa, and thereby acuired the new name Abanka Vipa. The bank has an extensive network of branches throughout Slovenia.
