Country information

The Czech Republic is a country in Central Europe bordered by Germany to the west, Austria to the south, Slovakia to the east and Poland to the northeast. The capital of the Czech Republic is Prague.  It is a tourist attraction and the largest city in the country. Contemporary Czech Republic was formed as a result of the dissolution of Czechoslovakia. Czech Republic is composed of the capital and 14 edges (regions). Since March 12, 1999 it has been a member of NATO, since May 1, 2004 - a member of the European Union, and in December 2007, the Czech Republic joined the Schengen area. It is a member of UN, EU, NATO, the IMF, World Bank, WTO, OECD, OSCE, Council of Europe, Visegrad.

Czech Republic is a parliamentary republic. The head of state is the President. Czech Republic is an industrial country. Main industries are fuel and energy, metallurgy, chemical, light, and food.
