Germany is a democratic, social, consitutional state in Western Europe, with Denmark bordering to the north, Poland and the Czech Republic to the east, Austria and Switzerland to the south, France and Luxembourg to the southwest, and Belgium and the Netherlands to the northwest. Germany's leading economic sector is services. It also has a developed production of goods, machinery and various equipment that make up a significant portion of German exports. The main industries are mechanical engineering, electrical, chemical, automotive, shipbuilding, and coal.
