Lithuanian state is geographically located in Northern Europe on the Eastern coast of the Baltic Sea. In the North it borders on Latvia, in the South-East on Belarus, in the South-West on Poland and Kaliningrad region of Russia. Lithuania is a parliamentary Republic, with the characteristics of the presidential Republic. The official language is Lithuanian. The capital is Vilnius.
In 2001 it joined the world Trade Organization (WTO), since 29 March 2004 to NATO. Since 1 May 2004, Lithuania has become a full member of the European Union, the Treaty of accession that was signed in 2003 and subsequently confirmed by the citizens of Lithuania in the referendum. Since 1 January 2015 Lithuania has joined the Eurozone.
