Country information

The Slovak Republic is a country in Central Europe. The capital - Bratislava. It borders with the Czech Republic to the northwest, Poland - to the north, Ukraine - to the east, Hungary - to the south and Austria - to the southwest. Official language - Slovak. Slovakia is a unitary state, a parliamentary republic. The country's independence was proclaimed on January 1, 1993. Slovakia became a member of NATO in 2004, the European Union on 1 May 2004, on the 21st of December 2007 it joined the Schengen zone, and on the 1st of January 2009, it joined the eurozone.

Slovakia is an industrial country with a dynamic economy, which has prospects for tourism, especially for ski resorts in the Tatras. The banking sector is almost entirely in the hands of foreigners who facilitate its investment growth.
