The Slovak Republic is a country in Central Europe. The capital - Bratislava. It borders with the Czech Republic to the northwest, Poland - to the north, Ukraine - to the east, Hungary - to the south and Austria - to the southwest. Official language - Slovak. Slovakia is a unitary state, a parliamentary republic. The country's independence was proclaimed on January 1, 1993.
